Here we have a used Sony SRW-5500 HD CAM SR Digital Video Cassette Recorder in excellent condition! This deck was just cleaned and serviced by a certified Sony technician. A new pinch roller, cleaning roller and pinch arm were just installed.

The Sony SRW-5500 HDCAM/HDCAM SR VTR is used in conjunction with Sony's top-quality CineAlta line of cameras, to deliver the pinnacle in High Definition acquisition. The HDCAM format has been widely accepted by top professionals as the HD format of choice due to Sony's commitment in providing the highest quality solutions for the most demanding cinematographers. The newest addition to the HDCAM format line is HDCAM SR. HDCAM SR records full bandwidth video at nearly 3.5x the data-rate of HDCAM, providing the highest quality image available. This virtually loss-less image acquisition represents video comparable to that of film. The SRW-5500 is capable of ingesting both standard HDCAM and HDCAM SR formats while still providing a wide range of other uses, such as digital video and audio archiving and mastering for both formats. This coupled with features such as integrated up-conversion, down-conversion, 2:3 pull down, and legacy playback of HDCAM or Digital BETA, makes this VTR the ultimate solution for top-end HD mastering studios and film productions. Using the optional HKSR-5003 board, the SRW-5500 is capable of recording full-bandwidth uncompressed 24-bit video for high-end archiving and film production needs. Using Sony's HKSR-5002 Digital Betacam board, Digital Betacam tapes can be played back and up converted to either 1080i or 720/59.94P formats. This can be very useful for "future-proofing", providing high definition masters for older projects. The SRW-5500 is capable of recording uncompressed audio, which makes it a vital tool for high-end audio archiving while being able to record non-audio data such as metadata information. The SRW-5500 can play both Digital BETA and HDCAM for maximum versatility over the range of Sony professional digital formats.
